State-of-the art equipment is used to produce these artworks that are produced in consultation with the artist, signed and numbered.

L’heure Bleue
(The Blue Hour)
Inspired by taking in the poetry of famous French poet Paul Verlaine whilst viewing the Eiffel Tower from a boat “sur La Seine”:
L’heure bleue
Rêvons, c’est l’heure
Un vaste et tender
Appaisement
Semble descender
Du firmament
Que l’astre arise
C’est l’heure exquise.

The Blue Hour
Let us dream
This is the hour
A vaste and tender peace
Appears to fall
From the heavens
Shining with stars
This is the exquisite hour.

When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall
Memories
Stirred by seasons
Floating, flowing past
A smell, sound, colour
Something once vibrant, alive
Changes, moves, falls
Turns into something else
A reminder
Life is full of seasons
beautiful
bittersweet memories
Floating, flowing past.

Sacred Spiral
Inspired by a fossilized ammonite, I was drawn by its beauty and the fact that within its structure, it holds information about the building blocks of nature.
The chambers of the shelll embody the infamous mathematical Fibonacci sequence, a ratio of 1.618, the “Divine Proportion”.
Michelangelo, Durer and Da Vinci had a vigorous and intentional adherence to this divine proportion in their work, in particular with respect to the layout of their compositions. |

Calm I
Calm II
‘Lay me down beside still waters’,
‘Restoreth my soul’
Sailing anywhere absorbs you totally into the surrounding landscape.
At the end of the day…,
at safe harbour…,
time to breathe and reflect on your surroundings.
The colours and tranquillity reflected in these two pieces are as real as any blue sky you would expect to find.
After a few days on a yacht, in calm waters, there is are longer any expectations towards colour.
ellow skies, orange fish, and turquoise waters simply become the norm.
Until tomorrow’s offerings repaint the canvas anew. |

Pair Of Pears
Partial Pair
Disa-Pear
While practising observational drawing and painting skills – a necessary discipline in the life of an artist, I found that I needed to make this process a little more “palatable”.
Wouldn’t it be a bit more interesting for the viewer to know that I was actually secretly eating the pears in the background?
And yes, they were “disappearingly” delicious! |

Whale Dance I, II, III, IV
These four canvases, in their original blank state, accompanied the Milroy family on a sailing boat holiday to Fraser Island.
I went eagerly, awaiting inspiration, paints and brushes in hand, to see what would leap onto the canvas. Almost immediately, inspiration was provided by the most amazing experience of ‘being with’ a pod of three whales, sharing their morning ritual, and moving with their dance
.What makes these canvases so special, is that you can arrange the order of the pieces as you wish.
Just as a whale’s dance is spontaneous, joyful, emotive and freely expressive, these canvases lend themselves to many differing hanging arrangements and interpretations of the whale dance. |

Fire Fish
This work was inspired by the energy, colour and light captured in the many goldfish ponds encountered whilst living in South East Asia.
Red and gold reflects the nature of things Eastern. Red represents strong positive energy and the gold represents good fortune.
The “feng shui” benefit of a gold fish pond can be introduced into your own home or office by the appropriate placement of this work, thereby introducing a rich art piece and sound investment |

Searching For a Silver Lining
Some days are not easy. However, even in the darkest indigo day, I always like to think there is a reason behind the angst, a lesson to be learnt and that if you can just keep searching and looking, the reason or the “silver lining” will reveal itself to you.
This work was thus inspired by an inner tension seeking its creative release. The process was assisted by beautiful instrumental music and solitude. I found tension snaking and weaving its way across and through the canvas landscape to find the path of release. The busy nature of the work reflects the level of stress and tension contained within us all.
By having this work in your home or office, I am hopeful that you will be able release your own tension simply by observing, breathing and meditatively “letting go”. |

Flowing
The elements of fire, water, earth and air in a synergistic flow of energy.
Some see the explosive power of hot lava as the dominant force, others see the water as being the essence of life. What do you see?
I see movement, colour, form. I feel heat, cool and the melding of the elements. Look at this work and surrender to its intrinsic flowing force. |

Blessings from the East
The power of chanting!
In the Studio one morning I started my painting day by listening to Buddhist chants and found my canvas exploding with colour and energy and impressions of Buddhas, lotus ponds, heavenly clouds of enlightenment.
The work just happened and refined itself over several months. Colours formed into spiritual images and it found its own depth and meaning. |

Shostakovich Symphony No 11 in G Minor
Movement 4- Bare Your Heads
This is one of four canvases that form ed part of a commission and took almost two years to research, experience and complete.
The Symphony, written by Dmitri Shostakovich, represents the 1905 Russian Revolution.
The final movement repeats elements of each of the previous ones and insists that you remember and take with you the bloody experience of revolution and its dire consequences.
The ghostly figure of Tsar Nicholas II stands to one side, as he and his family also became victims. The population could no longer tolerate his autocratic leadership and religious hypocrisy.
This eventful time lead the Russian population towards communism, which you can see emerging on the final corner of the canvas. |

Urban Jungle
The strong forms of a succulent plant reminded me of the growth of city buildings.
The leaves reaching out in an organic urban “sprawl”.
The contrast of strong metallic, industrial colours with the fluid form of the plant provides an exciting dynamic of the natural and the man made. |

Studio Windows III
The effects of light through coloured glass is visually very exciting and uplifting.
The stained glass windows in the studio provide daily inspiration and delight as the light changes in direction and intensity through them.
Pools of colour and shape are reflected off many surfaces in the Studio and it was whilst studying these stained glass reflections, that developed the paintings over the past twelve months.
The three pieces reflect the changing seasons, light and moods and re-create the sacred space within which I work daily. |
The Invitation (AKM0013)

The Invitation
The symbology associated with shells has always intrigued me - from the “feminine and fertility”, to the “auspicious” in Tibetan Buddhism. The philosophy states that good fortune is encouraged by displaying a beautiful conch shell in your home or office.
This small shell at the base of the painting invited itself from the Buddhist belief system, to manifesting itself onto a larger than life canvas. The original gold leaf background had been created for another subject but the shell insisted on taking precedence.
This sacred icon was thus born. |

Om Man Ni Pad Me Hum
(Jewel in the Lotus)
Outside our house in Maesot, Thailand, was a small pond with a glorious lotus plant. For many months I looked forward with anticipation to seeing the flowers bloom, however the buds always mysteriously disappeared before this happened. I never saw anyone taking the buds and one day mentioned it to a local in the village. She explained that the buds were used in “merit making” at the temples. I must have expressed some disappointment, as from that day onwards, the flowers were never removed and the most amazing white blooms burst atop impossibly slender stems.
The painting of one of these blooms evolved over a period of time. The strong links the flower has with Buddhism seemed to flow through naturally and a mantra of compassion, written in Sanskrit, seemed very appropriate. By reciting the mantra, one is said to purify the six poisonous samsaras of pride, jealousy, desire, ignorance, greed and anger, while at the same time perfecting the paramitas of generosity, harmonious conduct, endurance, enthusiasm, concentration and insight. It is also said that
Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum grants strong protection from all kinds of negative influences and various forms of illness.
The green signifies the active force of compassion, and the white, compassion’s motherly aspect. |
